Situated in a heritage site, Domaine Forget is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to creation, presentation and training in the performing arts, particularly music and dance. A cultural hub for meetings and exchanges, it provides a prestigious opportunity for artists from all over the world to become better known. Domaine Forget’s dissemination mandate is to present diverse, high-quality programming (classical music, jazz, dance, new music, musicals and popular concerts, plays, and productions for young people) that is accessible regionally; to raise interest in the performing arts on the part of the population; to facilitate meetings between noted artists and young, upcoming talent ; to develop links among artists of various horizons; to increase knowledge of the arts by presenting well- and less-known works of diverse styles and eras; to carry out audience development activities; and to contribute to the growth of artistic life in interaction with the population. One strong point of Domaine Forget’s International Festival is that it brings together artists from different milieus to perform together for the first time in concert, thus encouraging new ties and broadening exposure for the artists, who are subsequently invited to other festivals. Domaine Forget’s training mandate consists in offering music and dance classes to advanced-level students and young professionals from all corners of the world. The staff of the Academy of Music and Dance consists of highly-qualified teachers recruited from the top institutions of Quebec, other Canadian provinces, and other countries.
