CHAMBER ORCHESTRA

PROGRAM WITH LES VIOLONS DU ROY

This “side-by-side” intensive two-week program, presented in collaboration with Les Violons du Roy under the direction of Jonathan Cohen, Nicolas Ellis, and Mathieu Lussier is intended for very advanced or professional level instrumentalists (minimum age of 18) who wish to develop a greater expertise in mastering the different aesthetics and particularities of playing in a chamber orchestra, covering a repertoire ranging from the Baroque period to the Romantic period.

On August 17th and 23rd, the voice and chamber orchestra programs will join their talents to present two major works of the lyrical repertoire: Rameau’s “Un opéra imaginaire” and Hervé’s “Le petit Faust” in the concert hall. Participants will get the opportunity to perform along side the Violons du Roy, under the direction of Jonathan Cohen and Mathieu Lussier, during the closing concert of the 2025 summer international Festival of Domaine Forget de Charlevoix. Furthermore, another performance opportunity will take place on August 21, 2025, a concert dedicated to the chamber orchestra repertoire under the direction of Nicolas Ellis.

Program open to the following instruments:

  • Strings
    12 violins, 6 violas, 4 cellos, 2 double basses

  • Woodwinds
    1 flute, 1 clarinet, 1 oboe, 1 bassoon

  • Brass
